believe it or not,
this was NOT taken
in the country
or in a garden
and it's not digital . . .
i shot this several years ago
good old SLR 35mm style.

i was walking through a run down neighborhood in Detroit
the flower was hanging over a fence in the yard of an abandoned house.
the backdrop was broken windows and boards and a tall tangle of overgrowth.

proof that sometimes, you have to get up close to see
the truly beautiful things hiding amidst decay and ruin.
